Thanks

On Feb 8, 2013, at 2:53 AM, Surgemail Support (Marijn) < surgemail-supporwbrHIDDEN@insite.comA quick update on this. We can repeat the issue now here. It looks like we made change was made sometime between version 6.2c-1 and 6.2d-16 so that g_url_alias rules that have no port defined stop the web admin interface from working.
I am going back through our changes to figure out what the actual change was that that caused it and revert it back to the original behaviour if at all possible.
For now explicitly setting your webmail port on the g_url_alias rules should make the admin interface work again and keep the url redirection on the webmail port. eg: g_url_alias from="/" to="/scripts/webmail.exe" ports="80"
Sorry that bug slipped through.

I have used diff to check for any major differences in my surgemail.ini back long before this started happing and can not find any major changes, the only major thing I did was upgrade to the latest version of surgemail, this is really frustrating as it makes managing the server almost impossible, any other suggestions?.
g_url_alias from="/" to="/scripts/webmail.exe" ports=""
Ah that is interesting. That is actually part of the surgeweb code which should not be getting triggered at all for the normal admin interface and only for urls that are served from under /surgeweb.
Couple of ideas. - Do you have surgemail.ini url aliasing rules defined that might be unintentionally taking some admin interface web requests to the surgeweb url? - What url are you connecting on? It actually is the /cgi/admin.cgi interface or are you trying to connect at the root level of / ?

does this help you any?
Thanks Yes that does sound rather inconvenient! I'm not aware of issues specifically along those lines no. Although, there was one person recently I helped where some of the web templates in the surgemail/web directory had gotten corrupt. I'm not sure why it happened in the first place, but at this point there was only one report of that and running the upgrade installer again resolved that for the admin in question.
So have a look at the relevant templates in the surgemail/web directory and compare them to the files in the distribution to see if there are significant obviously corrupt differences. Other than that, have a look at the mail.log or mail.err to see if there are any errors getting logged in terms of access permission issues or other problems.
Let us know how you go thanks.

About a week after I upgraded to 6.3c2-2 my menu frame has disappeared, all I get now is the welcome page in a normal non frame page, no menu on the left I have the same problem on firefox, safari, and chrome, I have tried from multiple computers with the same problem, the url is I use is https://mymailserver:7025/cgi/admin.cgi it's kinda tuff managing a mail server with no menu. anyone else experience this problem or have any suggestions.
Thanks -John
