You must click on 'raw email' first and then 'save as' and then specify .eml as the extension, then it should work correctly.  If that sequence is failing let us know what browser you are using and we'll try it.

That actually is the original message file as stored on disk by surgemail with all mime formatting, attachments etc intact.

 

Dependent on the suffix windows will choose different programs to open the file. I think .eml will open it in OE etc, and if you change the suffix to .msg outlook will open it. No idea about Libre Office, I have never used it.

 

So what are you actually trying to do with the message file?
