Very well put. I'm just saying I think its time to put some work into the area of design, themes and such to it is inviting for our users to use it. Just google webmail gui and look in images you'll see all sorts of unique styles that look nice. Roundcube is a really good example.

Subject: Re: [SurgeMail List] Webmail Overhaul?
I’m with Steve. SurgeWeb is rich in features and performs well, but the visual design is not really acceptable when you are trying to sell a premium (i. e., non-free) email service. The usability is also not good, e. g., one of my boilerplate support emails consists of instructions, with screenshots, for enabling a vacation message.
For comparison, roundcube is a a free PHP webmail app with a good visual design.
No offense, but very few good programmers are also good designers. (I’m an amateur designer and a terrible programmer, so I know what’s involved.)
At the very least, I wish NetWin would hire a designer for a month or two to evaluate the feasibility of a thorough, user-centered redesign of SurgeWeb.
Best,
Chris

surgemail-supporwbrHIDDEN@insite.comAre you referring to our old webmail or surgeweb needing improvement?
Surgeweb is our currently recommended web based email client that makes use of modern web techniques. Admittedly it's implementation now predates the widespread adoption of html5 techniques so if one were to implement it today we would probably have made some different design choices. For more info on surgeweb see:
If you are referring to old webmail, yes I agree and you should be using surgeweb instead. If you are referring to surgeweb, please be more specific in terms of what sort of improvements you would like to see ;-)

Is there any work on making a next generation webmail? Maybe something HTML5 like Zimbra's webmail? Something that looks a little nicer on par with other systems out there right now? I just think its time for a major makeover.
