I use a program called Funambol, that will push emails to a phone, even POP3 mail. I've tested it and it works, but I don't use push email because it ties up my phone too much since I use Verizon and can't use data and voice at the same time (and neither will the new Verizon iphone users). Funambol also syncs tasks, contacts, notes and the calendar. I use the Open Source versions for Windows Mobile 5, Ubuntu (the server) and Thunderbird email plugin, so everything is kept up-to-date between my phone and my desktop PC.
