I did an eicar test and your sever is blocking viruses and seems correctly configured. Probably a weakness in avast as a guess I will investigate though, can you dropbox or otherwise send me a couple of samples I want to try them here and submit them to avast to see what happens.   You can block all binary attachments using the *simple* virus settings if that's viable for your environment.

We have AVAST running on our server.  Also, we have a user who got hacked and who also received more than 50 infected spam emails today - settings are for everything to be delivered to her box with SPAM notation.  ESET discovers each of these viruses.  But AVAST catches nothing.  I’m wondering if it’s just a weakness of AVAST or if for some reason my server is misconfigured.
