Check how many messages there actually are in the inbox by checking files on disk... Anywhere up to 50k I know to be fine by default, and I think up to several hundred k should be fine. At some stage depending on your surgemail settings imap will start to limit the messages it shows you. It may be you are seeing something odd associated with that limit?? It is not something I have come across or been reported before though. The way this download is supposed to work is that on first large folder access, the first surgeweb access gets a lock on the folder and continues background downloading the messages until complete. During this proccess the folder list can be accessed - and should show you the calculating status. However, during that time it should not be able to "receive new messages". Try resetting the surgeweb cache for the account ( Options - preferences - advanced - clear indexes), and maybe even restart surgemail to make sure there is no lock / background thread on the folder anymore and access the account again using surgeweb. Let us know if that improves matters thanks.
