I use the standard ports for remote SMTP. Do not try port 25 as it is too often blocked at remote sites.

For iPhone, iPad etc it would be best to setup SSL access to SMTP as Wi-Fi is often used and could be snooped.

g_smtp_secure_port includes port 465

g_smtp_portauth includes port 465 and 587 (non-SSL)

That works for me on the SurgeMail side of things.

The iPhone settings that include secure SSL set can be used.
