As noted, the new system is designed to work without manually tweaking filters.   You can tweak the new system (with difficulty :-) or you can use the old system if you prefer the manual approach.

friends.rul is ignored for local test messages.  (you must test with external messages)

I must be just on a totally different page. The documentation examples don't work. I'm getting pretty discouraged. I'm almost sorry I "Upgraded" to Surgemail.

Doesn't ANYONE use filters of any kind?

Simple.dat --> Simple.rul --> mfilter.rul --> doesn't recognize
Friends.rul --> totally ignores

Any other ideas?
