What is key here is the ability to edit before you resend.  I use the all the time in Thunderbird.  I go to the sent folder, pull up a great message that I sent to a client, click "send as new", edit the names... in seconds I have repurposed a great email with the the pain of cute and paste and the like.

Well there is a "resend" in the available from the Sent folder. But conceptually it is more like a "reply" rather than a "vanilla resend" how I think thunderbird does it. Personally I actually prefer it that way, although I can see the argument for having it the other way around. I'll ponder adding a vanilla resend to the menu or something...
