Outlook does a rolling archive.
You can choose when to run the archiving.
every 1, 2, 3, 4, days etc.
And how much to keep.
1 week, 1 month, 2 months, 6 months, etc
When it runs it archives all folders marked for archiving.
If you add any new folder you have to individually mark for archiving.

Yes, I think surgemail's per user mailbox archiving could be made nicer using some form of system where mail from all folders is archived in one tree, possibly with some form of easy download for backup and then delete.. Don't know, it has only been a germ of an idea for now, but something I have been contemplating for some time. Will ponder some more. 

How does outlook's auto archiving work?? I have never actually seen that in action, but am assuming it must be something similar. Will go and investigate that too with this lot.

Not sure yet though. Your request is only the second request for this feature to be added. Your users can still use user.cgi, or maybe I add it behind a setting that is disabled by default but you can enable in surgeweb if added...

One of the things, that I have long been pondering to make the mailbox-archiving more usable in my eyes, is automatic "archiving" to single folder tree where older mail from multiple folders ends up in a single tree. Possibly with a really simple interface in surgeweb... Don't know yet... opinions on what you would like to see?
