We're currently using Surgemail with the old webmail interface. We're wanting to upgrade our webmail viewer as the old interface is not up to today's standards any more.

I've been running tests with a new Surgemail install using Surgeweb as the webmail but we're having problems with encoding. Our domain is mostly used by french speakers so our e-mails contain plenty of accentuated characters. If we use the french demo language, the actual interface is fine, the characters display properly. If e-mails contain special characters in the subject, that's handled correctly too (mostly. I've seen issues but the problems come from the sending client not encoding the subject properly). The problem is the e-mail content. The special characters are not handled properly, though when I view the raw email, the characters display correctly. The issue is present in mobile and non-ajax skins. FYI, these emails are handled correctly with the old webmail interface, as well as when viewed in Roundcube or a heavy client such as Thunderbird.

Any pointers as to what we can do to get rid of these errors?
