I had a similar issue with a ms-sql database. I have this in my 
multiauth.ini file:

module 0
  binary nwauth.exe -path d:\surgemail
  master 1
  match *

module 1
  binary d:\surgemail\odbcauth.exe -path d:\surgemail\
