Did you setup mirroring in both directions, if not then that would cause the duplication as the old server would not be told when messages were 'read/moved/deleted' on the
new system.

Anyway, it sounds odd, can you send me the output of:
       tellmail status
from both machines, thanks.

Hi Chris,

Yes mirroring was setup in both directions. Not much point in sending the status report now. I'm getting ready to shutdown the dieing server. The switch over did show a couple of problems with mirroring though.

1. Bulletin tracking between servers needs work. The old had over a hundred, users who'd read them and had been tracked had that fact mirrored to the new server. But a new bulletin on the new server was numbered at 1 instead of the next highest of what had been used on the old system. The net result was that they didn't get any new bulleting till I manually renamed the bulletin file to the next higher number. I sent more detailed info to you already in a separate email.
   
2. Signatures were not mirrored and have to be remade on the new system.
3. Forwards were not mirrored, I copied the "responder" directory this morning..
4. My custom dictionary was not mirrored, I copied it manually.
