there's a (fairly?) new parameter that creates an archive of all deleted 
emails in a directory (defualt is archive_deleted) directory in the 
surgemail root (/usr/local/surgemail on linux). the setting is 
g_archive_on_delete and the default is ON.

i had a problem with this when deleting users with a gazillion emails 
stored on the server and the disk filled up.
