Thanks to your message below, thanks to it, I figured out what I was doing wrong. The surgemail manual only talked about adding one intermediate certificate (at least I took it literally) and I added the Godaddy file entitled "gd_intermediate.crt" instead of the gd_bundle.crt (which contains 3 certs - at least it has 3 "begin"'s and 3 "end"'s.)
