We use HORDE. We simply wrote a module to integrate with the user.cgi
... Now the users have what they need and can manage their accounts
completely via our "webmail". It's actually quite simple to do.
Round-cube has been so security problem plagued we gave up on it during
initial testing so I'm afraid I can't be of much use to you on doing an
integration there.

Since my users access their mail through POP or IMAP 99% of the time, I'm not worried about the performance of RoundCube vs. SurgeWeb. I just need it to look good on the rare occasions when they do want to access it, and I need to include a way for them to set up a holiday auto-reply.
