1) the generic migration method you have described

      2) surgemail mirroring 

      3) rsync/copying the files...

I would suggest option 2 for simplicity, but option 3 is pretty easy too.  The advantage of option 2 is you can run the two machines in parallel for 2-3 days

while you check it's working and change dns entries.  But option '3' is fine too.

Hi can anyone tell me what the process is to migrate from surgemail.

We have bought a new server with a new hosting company and installed surgemail on it and configured all the settings.

What is the process that follows?

I have read the migration steps but this will only pull email over if clients log into their mailboxes if im understanding it correctly.

 

So to do all this is still have to make a backup of the pold server move it over and restore it on the new server?
