Eric,

I would recommend checking to see if your server is using swap space a lot of the time.  If it is, it means it will still work, but performance suffers, not to mention the extra wear and tear of the drives.  If you are not swapping with 1GB, then that is great.  If you are, I would recommend adding more memory.
