Hmm, the imap import is supposed to maintain the message imap date and time timestamp... I've just run some tests. As it stands surgemail import is picky in the order of the fields of the imap response, which means it does detect the date when importing from surgemail imap but not from gmail IMAP. I have fixed the import to be a bit less picky but you will need a new build and reimport the messages in question. As background, surgeweb by design just uses the IMAP timestamp for efficiency reasons, whereas old webmail actually downloads all the messages looks at the timestamp in the headers and if the timestamp in the headers does not match the imap timestamp updates its index. For now a possible workaround is to view the messages in question using webmail.
